ENERGY SAVING TIPS FOR THE WINTER

As the weather is starting to get colder and our thermostats are being used more, we want to share some energy efficiency tips to cut down on rising utility costs this winter! Here are some tips to be more energy efficient as the weather gets cooler:

  • Check for and eliminate air leaks and drafts: leaks and drafts can hemorrhage energy costs, using more energy than is actually needed. They are also quite dangerous as well, so be sure to check for these!
  • Keep blinds and shades open during the day, close them at night: Letting in natural sunlight during the day is one of the easiest things you can do to keep your house warm during the winter. Shutting these blinds and shades at night also helps keep the cool air outside.
  • Invest in a smart thermostat: While smart thermostats can be more costly, they are worth it in the end because of how much money they will save you. Smart thermostats can monitor temperatures to put your home at the perfect setting for the most cost-effective use of energy.
  • Ensure that walls and attic spaces are property insulated: Having proper insulation in walls and attic spaces is the best way to make sure your home is being properly heated, and that you aren't paying more for energy than you need to be.

We hope these tips and tricks are helpful to keep down the rising energy costs this winter! Here is to a safe and energy-efficient season!
